Magazine Proposal.

Name of Magazine: "Rhea Listik" Magazine

Concept: This magazine is all about the latest trends and making it an affordable budget. Displaying all the stores that are affordable yet very stylish. Creating an expensive look but keeping the price in a "realistic" range for the average person and not over priced like other trendsetting magazines.
Readers: The readers will be any age from pre-teen to adult-hood. it will be a unisex magazine for all to be interested and entertained. This magazine can be for any race and anyone who doesn't to want to spend a whole lot of money.
Competition: The competition of "Rhea Listik" would be such magazines like "Seventeen" Magazine and other hip stylish tredy magazines. This magazine will be way popular because we show prices that you won't believe.
Advertisers: The adds in the page would be very popular devices and stores, such as Apple, and stores like Target. Yes Apple is pretty expensive but it's showing that you will have the extra money to possibly buy items like an iPod because our prices are so low. Other advertising will be viewd, like, Century movie theaters, Clubs, and upcoming movies.
Articles: My premeire issue would contain numerous outfits and where each piece is from and why these pieces are so afforable. the first issue would also contain many cupons not for the clothes but for the advertising in the magazines to also make people want to buy the magazine for those as well. It will also premeir upcoming clothing lines that are on the rise and other gossip with celebritites who wear the trends that "Rhea Listik" will show.
Cover: The cover for every issue will be different in some way. It will be a different combinations of colors and graphics. To get the audience amused and wanting to know what's the next cover. It will display nothing but high quality photos of our trends featuring the title right in the middle. Every cover is speacial just for the customers.

Books

The first book that has influenced me the most would be Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I think this book is very influential because it discusses the way which the Taliban can be interpret and how it treats its own people to the relationship between the 2 boys being a representation of the society. The next book is The Outsiders because to me, it explores the friendship and loyalty, that shows behind the gang characters by showing both the analogy in the feelings of the opposing groups and the uselessness of gang violence. My last choice would be The Art of War because it influences military thinking and tactics and I believe we all need to strategies our next maneuvers.

Technological Determinism

McLuhan's theory of "Technological Determinism". An example that i have chosen is cell phones and its usage. Cell Phones enhances your way for communicating to people if you are anywhere doing anything. You can make a call while you are not in a place with any kind of public phone. It reverses because after every month you have to pay your bill. Having a cell phone, you are addicted to all the applications and this can make you stuck on your phone texting, going online, instant messaging, etc...and this can sometimes increase your bill. Cell phones can be obsolete because we sometimes want to get the latest phone because we realize our phone is out dated. What do we do with our old cell phone? sometimes people give it away, but the majority of people just leave their old cell phones in a drawer never to be seen again. What makes cell phones relevant, is that it takes us back to 1870 when the telephone was just something that transmitted speech. McLuhan's theory can be shown by any kind of development, and I believe cell phones is a good one to canvass.

Media Autobiography

The eight types of mass media; Books, Newspapers, Magazines, Recordings, T.V, Radio, Movies and Internet have been in my life for a while. They have created copious amounts of entertainment.

I hate reading, but when i was a young boy I always have the encouragement to flip through the big children's books. For example, my favorite book, Where the Wild Things Are, where it taught kids like me about imagination. Imagination led this book to become a popular movie.

Movies are probably one of my favorite type of mass media out there. I love movies. I go to the theaters almost once a week to see the newest movie out there, so I can tell people my thoughts about the movie. It also gets me stuck for the approximate 2 hours watching the movie.

I love to get the latest updates on gossip. Reading a Magazine has so much topics to read about. For example, the latest fashion that's going, so I know whats in and whats out. I love clothes, so i love to know whats the coolest thing to wear.

Besides celebrity gossip, other news around the world that's more critical i find in a newspaper. where i get to know the news, look at interesting advertising and information. I only view the newspaper rarely and get the same info on the television. I love comedy. My favorite shows would be Family Guy and Chelsea Lately, both very funny shows and both waste a good 30 minutes.

I enjoy listening to the radio when im on the road. love the Dj and his mixes. it gets me through the stress on traffic and people who dont know how to drive, but what's better than the radio in my opinion is my iPod.

I love my iPod and how i can put any songs I want and just enjoy it without. I love pop and hip-hop. these recordings transfer to my ipod and i just carry it when im walking or taking a nap. its relaxing listening to my favorite songs.

Last but not least is my all time addiction. The Internet. what would I do without this. Im on everyday. On Facebook, Twitter etc...Oh and always engrossed in doing my homework.

I plan to have a career involving the Media. Maybe becoming famous, but I am still undecided what I really wanna major in, so we will see.
